PlainFedContract makes federal contract spending data easy to search and explore. We aggregate award data from USAspending.gov, the official open data source of federal spending information, covering thousands of contractors and federal agencies.
Editorial process
- Source. Query USAspending.gov’s REST API endpoints (spending_by_award and related) with pagination to download the full set of contract award records.
- Verify. Preserve official recipient and agency names exactly as they appear in government records; no merging, deduplication, or editorial modification of the underlying figures.
- Publish. Compute aggregations (totals, rankings) from the source data using straightforward summation, then publish per-contractor, per-agency, and per-NAICS pages linking back to USAspending.gov.
